Stop what you’re doing and pre-order Animatronic Baby Yoda on Amazon. Right Now.

BGR - Fri, 02/21/2020 - 18:09

I don't care if you're driving, eating a meal, spending quality time with a loved one, or performing surgery. Whatever you're doing is far less important than making sure you're among the people who get their hands on the insanely adorable new Baby Yoda animatronic toy that Hasbro just unveiled this week.

The Mandalorian is without question the best content that has come out of the Star Wars universe since the original trilogy all the way back in the late 1970s and early 1980s. In fact, it was one of the best new shows that came out all year last year. Mando himself is a terrific character and the action was fantastic, but everyone knows that the best thing about The Mandalorian was Baby Yoda.

Okay, fine, so his name isn't really "Baby Yoda." The Child is nothing short of a pop culture phenomenon though, and people tripped over themselves buying bootleg plush Baby Yoda toys late last year. Forget the plush toys though, because something so much better was just unveiled. It's technically called The Child Animatronic Edition toy from Hasbro, and it might be the greatest thing ever! Check out this YouTube video to see it in action:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rIShWuKhq7E

Animatronic Baby Yoda packs more than 25 different sound and motion combinations, and I think I could probably just sit there and stare at him for hours. Unfortunately, there's some bad news: The Child Animatronic Edition toy won't be released by Hasbro until sometime this fall. Amazon has December 15th listed as the release date, but that's likely just a placeholder and we can expect this awesome Hasbro toy to hit physical and virtual store shelves long before the holidays. It'll be impossible to find unless you want to pay hundreds on eBay though, so pre-order one now on Amazon for just $60!

Star Wars The Child Animatronic Edition Toy From The Mandalorian
  • SERIES-INSPIRED SOUNDS: Touch the top of The Child Animatronic Edition’s head to activate sound effects inspired by The Mandalorian, including happy and excited, giggles and babbles, tired and sleeping, and Force effects sounds
  • ANIMATED TOY: Features motorized movements, including a head that moves up and down, ears that move back and forth, eyes that open and close, and more
  • FORCE ACTIVATION: Boys and girls ages 4 and up will love patting The Child Animatronic Edition’s head 3 times for Force activation, in which the animatronic toy will raise its arm, close its eyes, and sigh, as if using the Force
  • FORCE NAP: Pretending to channel the Force takes a whole lot of energy and requires a lot of rest. Lay The Child toy down and it will close its eyes and take a “Force nap”
  • STYLED AFTER THE DISNEY PLUS SERIES: Star Wars The Child Animatronic Edition is inspired by the fan-favorite character from The Mandalorian and includes a removable Mandalorian pendant necklace and premium soft goods robe

Where are the bike lanes in Lego world?

The verge - Fri, 02/21/2020 - 18:07
Photo by Martin Schutt/picture alliance via Getty Images

Marcel Steeman, a regional councilor in the Netherlands, was playing Lego with his kids a few months ago when he noticed something strange.

“There were Lego cyclists, but I wondered where they had to cycle,” he told DutchNews.nl. “If you are Dutch you are used to having cycling lanes.”

The streets in Lego’s city sets had space for cars, trains, even tiny storm drains but no designated space for zero-emission, human-powered vehicles like bikes. Even worse, it appeared that Lego’s streets were becoming more hostile toward pedestrians over time. As compared to Lego sets from years ago, the cars seem to have grown larger — evolving from four- to six-studs wide — and the roads appeared to be getting wider, while the sidewalks were getting...

Onward is a perfectly fine Pixar movie with a bizarre twist

The verge - Fri, 02/21/2020 - 18:00
Image: Pixar

Over the last decade, Pixar has added a new trick to its considerable list of talents: the missable blockbuster. A truly bad Pixar movie is still extremely rare, but a serviceable one that doesn’t necessarily feel like an event? They’re now a part of the studio’s repertoire, even if they feel odd every time. Onward is the latest and strangest of these: a Pixar movie that doesn’t quite look like a Pixar movie, even though it almost feels like one.

Perhaps part of the problem is that Onward is both incredibly strange and rather sweet, but it only half-commits to either feeling. In Onward, Ian (Tom Holland) and Barley (Chris Pratt) Lightfoot are elf brothers in a world that’s kind of like ours but inhabited by fantasy creatures like...

Marvel is about to reveal a ton of release dates for new MCU Phase 4 shows

BGR - Fri, 02/21/2020 - 17:44

Marvel is about to kick off the fourth phase of its huge Marvel Cinematic Universe, which will be bigger than any of the previous phases when it comes to the amount of content. In addition to six movies that already have release dates and official titles, we’re also getting eight new TV series that will hit Disney+ over the course of the coming two years. These shows will be an integral part of MCU stories going forward and will tie directly into the movies. They'll also feature some of our favorite heroes who will be played by the same actors from the films.

Many of Marvel's upcoming new TV shows are already in production, and we’ve seen plenty of leaks detailing key plotlines. During the Super Bowl last month, Disney even aired a short spoiler-packed clip for the first three new series, including The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, WandaVision, and Loki, of which the first two will premiere this year. However, neither Disney nor Marvel announced firm release dates for these MCU TV series or all the other series we know the companies are developing. That’s about to very real soon, according to a couple of reports, as Disney may provide actual launch dates for many more of its upcoming MCU attractions.

You won’t believe all the deep discounts Amazon has today on best-selling Anker accessories

BGR - Fri, 02/21/2020 - 17:19

When you think about how much Anker has accomplished in a market that's dominated by companies with multi-billion-dollar marketing budgets, it's pretty darn impressive.

Anker barely advertises its products at all. Instead, the company sells its various products and accessories on Amazon and relies heavily on word of mouth. Of course, the only way for a risky strategy like that to pay off is to make products that offer exceptional quality and terrific value, so that's exactly what Anker does.

Let's use the 6-foot Anker Powerline II Lightning Cable as an example. Head over to Amazon right now and buy one using the coupon code AK8433W8 at checkout, and you'll only pay $9.49. Apple charges $29 for the same length cable, and we would argue that Anker's version is actually more durable. Seriously, why can't Apple find a way to make a cable that lasts longer than 6 months?!

Another great example is the Anker 10W PowerWave Pad Wireless Charger, which is on sale right now at Amazon for just $8.49 with no coupon needed. This is Anker's most popular model and it supports 7.5W fast wireless charging for iPhones as well as 10W fast wireless charging for Android models like Samsung's Galaxy phones. Similar wireless chargers from brands like Logitech or Mophie can easily cost $35, $40, or even more.

Amazon is running a bunch of different deals right now on some of Anker's most popular accessories. The two above are obviously included, but that's just the tip of the iceberg. Here are some of the best deals:

Those deals and more are available right now on Amazon's site, but they won't be available for much longer. In fact, there's a good chance many of them will wrap up either today or sometime over the weekend. This is a great opportunity to save money on some of the highest-quality accessories out there from Anker, so don't miss out. You can even get shockingly good over-ear wireless headphones for under $30. How crazy is that?!

Samsung’s Galaxy S20 Ultra almost makes me want to ditch my iPhone 11

BGR - Fri, 02/21/2020 - 16:54

When the iPhone and Android were still young mobile platforms in the early stages of their respective development, there were tons of dramatic differences between them. Apple's iOS platform was simple and sleek, offering users everything they need without overcomplicating any core functionality. Android, on the other hand, was open and versatile. Sure you could just pick up an Android phone and start using it as-is, but a big part of the draw for tech-savvy smartphone shoppers was how dramatically a person could change practically any part of the user experience.

These days, the two platforms are far more in line than they were back then. Android is still open source and fully customizable, but it has been streamlined and simplified over the years. Meanwhile, iOS has gained tons of new functionality that makes the mobile platform more versatile than ever. Moving back and forth between them doesn't necessarily involve making any huge sacrifices one way or the other. This is meaningful today because Samsung's new Galaxy S20 lineup just became available for preorder, and it's aimed squarely at the ultra-premium flagship smartphone segment that Apple currently dominates. The cheapest Galaxy S20 phone costs $1,000, while the high-end Galaxy S20 Ultra with its incredible new quad-lens camera and 100x zoom climbs as high as $1,600. Interestingly, it's also the first new Android phone in a long time that has me wondering if I could ever make the switch to Google's mobile platform.

Hot Wheels announces a remote-controlled Tesla Cybertruck

The verge - Fri, 02/21/2020 - 16:13
Image: Mattel

Mattel has announced a Hot Wheels-branded remote-controlled version of Tesla’s Cybertruck. It will come in two sizes and is available to preorder now. There’s a 1:64 scale RC Cybertruck that costs $20 and a much bigger 1:10 scale version that runs for $400. Both are expected to ship in December 2020.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has long said that his company would build an electric pickup truck. But as he got closer to revealing the vehicle, he kept teasing that it would have a “futuristic-like cyberpunk, Blade Runner design.

Musk delivered (or maybe even overdelivered) on that promise when the Cybertruck was announced in November 2019. The stark steel-clad truck he rolled out onstage was unlike basically any other pickup truck on the road,...

New leak proves PS5 and Xbox Series X’s most crucial feature isn’t what you think

BGR - Fri, 02/21/2020 - 15:56

2020 will be a pivotal year for gaming, as two of the top three players in the console business will release brand new gaming rigs capable of incredible performance, better than any console to date. The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X will both feature almost the same set of specs, including brand new processors and graphics cards, as well as fast solid-state drives that will completely eliminate the need to wait for games to load. Features like ray tracing support and 8K gameplay have been teased in Sony and Microsoft’s limited announcements so far, as well as controller improvements for even more immersive games. And backward compatibility seems to be confirmed for both consoles, which is a huge deal.

On top of all that, we’ve had several leaks that revealed the unique features of each console, like the rumored virtual assistant that’s coming with the PS5 or the futuristic spatial sound feature on the Xbox Series X. But it turns out that the best and most important marquee feature of the next consoles might be something entirely different if a brand new leak is to be believed. And it’s a detail that could give Sony, Microsoft, and all gamers huge headaches, as it’ll be a considerable factor affecting the final prices of the new PlayStation 5 and next-generation Xbox.
